With iOS 26, Apple is redesigning the Camera app to make it more streamlined and easier to use. Here’s what it looks like.
After years of accumulating new modes, toggles, and gestures on its Camera app, Apple explained today that the updated interface aims to bring a clearer focus to its most commonly used functions.
For this reason, the main camera screen will prioritize Photo and Video modes. Additional capture options (such as Cinematic, Portrait, and Slo-Mo) will still be available, of course, but will be accessed by swiping left or right.
Swiping up within a mode will reveal relevant settings like Exposure, Timer, and Aperture. Resolution and frame rate controls have been moved to the top of the screen, alongside toggles for Flash and Night Mode. A long press on these icons will bring up expanded configuration menus.
As apple explained it during the keynote, the redesigned layout aims to reduce visual clutter while keeping advanced tools within reach. The new interface is available now in the iOS 26 developer beta, and is expected to ship widely in September.
